Venezuela on Friday declared Peruvian leader Pedro Pablo Kuczynski an enemy and gave its top diplomat in Caracas five days to leave the country in response to the ouster of its ambassador.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Peruvian government said earlier it had ordered Venezuelan Ambassador Diego Alfredo Molero Bellavia out of the country within five days over what it called a “breakdown of democracy” in Venezuela.
“Kuczynski has become an enemy of [Venezuelan revolutionary Simon] Bolivar’s homeland by constantly interfering in Venezuelan home affairs,” the Venezuelan foreign ministry said in a statement.
The Venezuelan foreign ministry said the expelled diplomat was safely back in the country, adding his respect of the people of Peru remained unchanged. Caracas retaliated by telling the Peruvian charge d’affaires, the head of the country’s diplomatic mission in Venezuela, to leave the country.
