Where Are The Watchmen of God?

Turm, Festung, Backstein, Asyl, Wächter

And the Word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Son of man, speak to the children of your people, and say to them, ‘When I bring the sword upon a land, and the people of the land take a man from among them, and set him for their watchman; If, when he sees the sword come upon the land, he blows the ram’s horn and warns the people, Then whoever hears the sound of the ram’s horn and does not take warning, if the sword does come and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. He heard the sound of the ram’s horn and did not take warning, His blood shall be upon himself. But if he had taken warning, he would have delivered his life. But if the watchman sees the sword coming, and does not blow the ram’s horn and the people are not warned; if the sword comes and takes any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity. But I will require his blood at the watchman’s hand.

And you, son of man, I have set you as a watchman to the house of Israel. Therefore you shall hear the Word from My mouth, and warn them from Me.

When I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked one, you shall surely die;’ if you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked one shall die in his iniquity; but I will require his blood at your hand. But, if you warn the wicked of his way, to turn from it; if he does not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity, but you have delivered your soul. And you, son of man, speak to the house of Israel. Thus shall you speak, saying, ‘When our transgressions and our sins are on us, and we are wasting away in them, how then shall we live?’ Say to them, ‘As I live,’ says the Lord God, ‘I have no delight in the death of the wicked, except that the wicked turn from his way, and live. Turn you, turn you from your evil ways; for why will you die, O house of Israel?’

Therefore, son of man, say to the children of your people, ‘The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression. As for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall by it in the day he turns from his wickedness. Nor shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sins. When I shall say to the righteous that he shall surely live; if he trusts in his own righteousness and commits iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he has committed, he shall die for it. Again, when I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die;’ if he turns from his sin and does that which is lawful and right; If the wicked restores back the pledge, gives back again what he had robbed, walks in the statutes of life without committing iniquity, then he shall surely live; he shall not die. None of his sins that he has committed shall be remembered against him. He has done that which is lawful and right; he shall surely live.

Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ O house of Israel, I will judge you, each one according to his ways.”

And it was in the twelfth year of our exile, in the tenth month, on the fifth day of the month, that one who had escaped out of Jerusalem, came to me, saying, “The city is taken.” And the Lord’s hand was on me in the evening, before he who had escaped came. And He had opened my mouth when he came to me in the morning; and my mouth was opened, and I was dumb no more. And the Word of the Lord came to me, saying,

“Son of man, those who live in those wastes of the land of Israel are speaking, saying, ‘Abraham was one, and he inherited the land. But we are many; the land is given to us for an inheritance.’ Wherefore say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord, “You eat meat with the blood and lift up your eyes to your idols, and shed blood; and shall you possess the land? You stand upon your sword, you work abomination, every man defiling his neighbor’s wife. And shall you possess the land? Speak to them in this way, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “As I live, surely those who are in the waste places shall fall by the sword, and I will give him who is in the open fields to the beasts to be eaten, and those in the forts and in the caves shall die of the plague. For I shall make the land most desolate, and the pride of her power shall cease. And the mountains of Israel shall be desolate, so that none shall pass through. And they shall know that I am the Lord, when I have made the land most desolate because of all their abominations which they have committed.” ‘

And you, son of man, the children of your people are still talking about you by the walls, and in the doors of the houses, and speaking to one another, each man to his brother, saying, ‘I pray you, come and hear what is the word which comes from the Lord.’ And they come to you as the people come, and they sit before you as my people, and they hear your words. But they will not do them. For with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goes after their covetousness. And lo, you are to them as a singer of love songs with a beautiful voice, and able to play well on an instrument; for they hear your words, but they do not do them.

And when this comes to pass; (behold, it will come) then they shall know that a prophet has been among them.

As it was back then, so it is today. The people commit horrendous sins and wipe their mouths, saying to one another, the Lord bless you mightily and be secure in His presence, and all the while the stench of aborted children rises into the air like incense, the blood of the innocent covers the land like a blanket as blood flows from every corner on every street. The wickedness of Sodom and Gomorrah has spread like the venom of the scorpion, and the dance of madness has gripped the hearts of those who revel in the sins of the unrepentant! And all the while the leaders of the people of God have committed their ways to perversion and greed and vice. Yet, still they cry out for more blessings and worldly wealth and ease of living while the thunder of their approaching doom and the flashes of righteous fury light up the skies and still, they won’t listen!

The land has been cursed because of your violent and perverse ways, the land moans and withers away because of the sins placed upon it. Your false and vain teachers teach only vanity and lies. Therefore ruin and desolation will become your reward even as you lift up stained hands that are covered in sin. Your prosperity teachers cause you to believe in lies, and so you shall fall with them in their shame. Your priests and pastors have not fed you the good word but have sought their own gain. Your leaders have given themselves over to evil ways and speak only with forked tongues and yet they still lead you into false ways because you have chosen them. The love of the sword will become the bitterness of death as it is turned upon you and the smoke of destruction will be seen by all as panic grips your hearts, and you flee in terror. Your wealth and goods are thrown to the wind, your wives and daughters turn to prostitution to save themselves even as the men turn on each other in madness and yet, you still will not listen.

O land of the mighty, how the mighty are falling, drunk from the goblet of violence. How adultery openly catches her willing victims and the dumbness of the witless leads them into her chamber of death. How the taste of drugs consumes the ones devoid of sense, and the love of wealth has swallowed the land, leaving the poor to struggle. The old church spires fall into decay and ruin, witnesses of the judgment about to befall the inhabitants and the bells that once rang for joy now toll for silence.

Sin has taken the land in its grip and will not release it because its leaders are its lovers. The cries of repentance are rarely heard over the roars of greed as the religious leaders flaunt their poverty in the eyes of the poor and the eyes of the Lord blaze with righteous anger and mounting fury against those who scatter his flock and cut them into pieces so as to gorge themselves on their remains! And yet, the people still won’t listen!

The Lord will bless you are the wretched cries of the pastoral witches who seduce the flocks! The Lord will bless you as sodomites crowd the pulpit! The Lord will bless you as the money changers chant their greed! The Lord will bless you as the Styrofoam crosses are passed around! The Lord will bless you as the feminists sacrifice the child on their bloody altars! The Lord will bless you as the lazy shepherds rub their stomachs!  Will the Lord bless you as you swim in sin and prostitute yourselves for gain? Will the Lord bless you as you cheat, steal, and lie for profit? Will the Lord bless you as you wield the sword against the innocent?

Will the Lord bless you as you swim in sin and prostitute yourselves for gain? Will the Lord bless you as you cheat, steal, and lie for profit? Will the Lord bless you as you wield the sword against the innocent? Will the Lord bless you as rob from the flocks and turn away as they are carried into captivity? Will the Lord bless you as you slaughter the innocent? No, you are not blessed but are cursed, but in your blindness, you claim to see.

Where are the watchmen of God? Why have they hidden away? Why won’t they blow the ram’s horn? What was the price they offered for them to remain silent? What compromise did they make to avoid persecution? Was it too cold on the walls to maintain the watch? Were they told not to speak too loudly lest they disturb tender hearts? Were they told not to speak out for the people could not bear their words? Were they told that love covers all sins, both public and private? Perhaps they condemned them for being intolerant! Or maybe the watchman’s guardroom was cozy and warm, and an attractive woman or a sodomite was there to keep them company during the watch!

Where are the watchmen of God in this vile and wicked age? The city has been left unguarded, and the enemy is pouring in through the massive breaks in the wall and is flooding the streets, slaying both young and old, showing no mercy to woman nor child and slaying the men in the beds of the harlots! Their wives are to be found in the arms of their young and dumb lovers and their daughters play the whore on every street corner with painted faces and seductive eyes! The sounds of drunkenness and whoredoms are to be heard from every rooftop, and the cries of those who are perishing are drowned out by the music of the dying! The shepherds have hidden their faces for the love of sin, and the bells are silent for fear of retribution.

Where are the watchmen of God? As the sword approaches the land to lay waste its inhabitants, the call goes forth; WHERE ARE THE WATCHMEN?
